PRIVACY POLICY
Your archive is not our dataset.
This policy explains what stays on your device, what limited information may leave it, and the choices you have when using TrueTaken.
Last updated: August 16, 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to the TrueTaken website and web application. It does not govern third-party sites, a payment provider's checkout, Google Takeout, or software you use before or after TrueTaken.
2. Local photo processing
When you choose files or a folder, the current application processes them in your browser. This may include reading supported embedded date fields, reading compatible Google Takeout JSON, inspecting filenames and file modified times, proposing copy names and folders, and preparing CSV, JSON, ZIP, or direct-folder output.
TrueTaken does not send the selected media bytes, filenames, file paths, embedded metadata, Takeout JSON contents, or audit rows to our servers for this analysis.
Your browser controls access to local files. Closing the page or revoking browser permissions limits further access. Exported files and reports remain in locations you choose and are under your control.
3. Information that may be processed online
License activation
When you validate a paid license, the application sends the entered license key to TrueTaken's validation endpoint, which forwards it to the configured license provider for validation. It does not attach a selected photo, filename, path, embedded metadata, Takeout JSON, or audit report. The license key and the time it was last validated are stored in your browser's local storage.
Checkout
If you follow a purchase link, the configured payment provider processes payment, tax, billing, fraud-prevention, and receipt information under its own privacy terms. TrueTaken does not receive your full payment-card number.
Aggregate website analytics
Privacy-oriented aggregate analytics may be enabled for page visits and product events such as opening the app, completing a scan, exporting a manifest, or starting checkout. Event properties are designed to exclude keys referring to files, names, paths, photos, or email. The analytics provider may still process ordinary request information such as IP address, user agent, referring page, and page URL according to its own policy.
Support messages
If you contact support, we process the contact details, order information, technical description, and attachments you choose to send. Do not send private media unless it is necessary and you intentionally choose to do so.
4. Purposes
- Provide and secure license activation.
- Complete purchases, receipts, refunds, and required tax records.
- Understand aggregate product use and diagnose reliability problems.
- Respond to support and legal requests.
- Prevent abuse and protect the service.
5. Retention
Local media and audit output are retained only where you save them. Browser-stored activation information remains until you clear site data or the application removes it.
License, transaction, support, security, and aggregate analytics records are retained only as reasonably needed for their stated purpose, legal obligations, dispute handling, and fraud prevention. Payment providers and analytics providers set their own retention periods.
6. Sharing
We do not sell selected photo content or use it for targeted advertising or model training. Limited online information may be shared with infrastructure, analytics, payment, fraud-prevention, and support providers that help operate the service, or when required by law.
7. Security and backups
Local processing reduces transfer of sensitive archive data, but no software or device is perfectly secure. Keep independent backups, secure your device, review destination permissions, and verify exported copies before changing any external archive.
8. Your choices and rights
You can decline to select local files, use the free sample workflow, avoid optional purchase and activation, clear site data, or stop using the service. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability for personal information held online.
9. Children
TrueTaken is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. A parent or guardian should supervise any use by a minor.
10. Changes and contact
Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how online personal information is used, we will provide notice appropriate to the service.
Privacy questions may be sent through the support contact provided at official checkout or on your purchase receipt.
